Real Wedding: Courtney + Matt

The most memorable and magical weddings are more than just parties.  They are celebrations that tell a love story.  They are a collection of thoughtfully planned details that surround the Bride and Groom with the people, sites and sounds that they love.  This was the case with Courtney and Matt’s wedding day.

The day began at the Twelve hotel, with the Bride and Groom dressing in their separate suites with their bridesmaids and groomsmen.  {All images in this post were artfully captured by Kayla Johnson Photography.}

After a relaxing morning of hair, makeup and brunch it was time to leave for King Plow Event Gallery where both the ceremony and reception were held.

Photography began with a First Look for Courtney and Matt.  These images capture the excitement and love in this moment!

The Bride and Groom grew up together, and their wedding was extra special because so many of their guests had watched them grow over many years.  Courtney and Matt, along with their officiant, spent time crafting a one of a kind ceremony that brought happy tears to many of their guests.  My favorite parts of their ceremony were the personal letters that they read to each other, and the special prayer that their guests read to them.

Decor provided by Bold with lighting by EEP Events gave King Plow the atmosphere of a delicate and lush garden, the perfect complements to Courtney’s Lazaro gown.  Fun fact: we had to plan an oversized aisle to accommodate the five foot wide base of this incredible dress!  We also provided the string quartet and the sound system that ensured that Courtney and Matt’s words were heard clearly by their guests.

After the ceremony, guests enjoyed cocktail hour while the Bridal Party posed for photos around the King Plow property.  The weather was beautiful: perfect for outdoor photos!

The thumb print tree replaced the traditional guest book: a great conversation starter for guests as they enjoyed a bit of arts and crafts!

Guests gasped and squealed with delight when the reception room was revealed.  Seating was provided by a combination of square, round and rectangle tables all with different centerpieces in Courtney’s blush, taupe, celery and eggplant palette.  Little touches of moss and birch continued the lush garden setting of the ceremony.

I’ve always said that the introduction of the Bridal Party sets the tone for the rest of the evening.  Courtney and Matt went all out for their introduction and we came up with the idea for their Bridal Party to enter with crimson and white pom poms, a nod to their shared alma mater.  After that high energy intro, it was all about celebrating and dancing for the rest of the night!

Courtney and Matt danced their first dance as Mr. & Mrs. to Ben Folds “The Luckiest”, a sweet song that was such a great fit for them.  Doesn’t every girl dream of a perfect dip like this one on her wedding day?

Courtney’s father gave the most epic Father of the Bride toast I have ever heard.  I passed out many tissues and even wiped a few tears listening to this toast.  The mother-son dance was just as epic, as Matt and his mom surprised the guests with choreographed dance moves.  The crowd went wild!  You can check out both of these moments in their video by White Dress Media.

Food stations, also provided by Bold, made for a lively and fun dinner experience.  After dinner, Courtney and Matt cut their custom designed wedding cake and groom’s cake created by Frosted Pumpkin Gourmet.

After dessert, it was time to dance… and dance… and dance!  I’m always thankful when Jimmy is entertaining.  Nobody can read a crowd and pack a dance floor like he can!

When the evening was over, it was time for Courtney and Matt’s grand exit complete with sparkler fanfare and a vintage Rolls Royce to whisk them off to their honeymoon.

I hope you enjoyed this sneak peek into an EEP Events wedding as much as I enjoyed reliving it!
