Monograms: They’re Not Just for Invitations Anymore
Just a few years ago, many Brides considered monograms to be out of date and unlikely to be the foundation of a modern wedding design. But, monograms have been making a wedding industry comeback over the past several years, and this year we’re seeing custom designed monograms popping up everywhere!
The rise of the modern monogram began in the stationery world, with new and different monogram styles showing up on invitations, escort cards, and paper cocktail napkins. During the past few years, we’ve seen custom monograms on everything from toasting flutes to aisle runners.
Recently, more and more EEP Events wedding clients have chosen to put their names in lights… or rather, their initials. After all, a wedding often means a new last name for the Bride. So, why not reveal the new monogram by illuminating it as the focal point of the reception space?
To draw wedding guests’ attention to those brand new initials, we use a custom made gobo (essentially a stencil) to project the monogram in a key location, such as the dance floor or onto a wall within the wedding reception space.
Here are a few images from recent EEP Events weddings where we incorporated custom monogram lighting treatments:
Brides and Grooms don’t have to stick with traditional monogram styles anymore. As the monogram trend grows we’re seeing them in every style, from modern to whimsical to sophisticated. Check out this handy monogram inspiration starter that we found on Pinterest, shared from stylebeat.blogspot.com:
