Is Wedding Videography “Worth It”?
My answer: absolutely! None of my clients who have invested in videography have regretted spending that money. To the contrary, their appreciation of their own wedding video only grows as time passes. As with any memory, over time you will lose some of the details of your wedding day in your mind’s eye. During your honeymoon, you may vividly recall the special words that your parents and friends shared in their wedding toasts. But years later, many of those moments will be lost on the cutting room floor of your own memory, unless you plan ahead and safeguard them with a video.
Audio alone is one reason that I recommend wedding videography. Even with the video images aside, there are so many sound bytes from a wedding that are worth capturing. During the ceremony, the giving away of the Bride and the couples’ vows are milestone moments for the Bride and Groom and their families. If the priest or minister is familiar with the Bride and Groom, he may share stories about them growing up or offer words of advice; those words have also become treasured memories for many of my clients.
When it comes to the reception, there are of course the toasts given by family and friends, the first dance and the Father-Daughter and Mother-Son dances. While photographs of these moments can be incredible and moving, there is no replacement for capturing the audio and the motion.
I recently had a wonderful conversation with a client after she had received both her wedding photos and video. She was incredibly pleased with both final products, and was particularly amazed by how many special moments were preserved by the video. The candid video segments were her favorites – her chatting with her dad before he walked her down the aisle, and her dancing with her bridesmaids, for example.
In every decision making phase, I remind my clients that on Wedding Day, time passes more quickly than any other day. In my opinion, anything that can be done to allow the Bride and Groom to savor each moment is a wise investment!
